FIJIAN film actor Jagdish Punja has shared insights into his pivotal role as detective Inspector Roy in the upcoming Stranded Pearl adventure film.

Punja delves into the storyline, depicting his character’s relentless pursuit of a fugitive who has eluded the authorities by seeking refuge in the tranquil setting of the Cook Islands after his journey from New Zealand.

“In this Stranded Pearl movie, I play the role of a detective named Inspector Roy. I come down from New Zealand looking for a fugitive who escapes from New Zealand,” Punja explains.

“We find out he was living in the Cook Islands, so I fly down with my assistant and start looking for the fugitive and eventually find him.”

“It’s an important role in the movie because I’m looking for the hero in the movie and he is always one step ahead of me, and it’s just frustrating because my character is very serious because the fugitive is really a pain,” he said.

The film’s narrative revolves around the interplay between the leading lady and the fugitive, with Punja’s character serving as a formidable obstacle hindering the fugitive’s pursuits.

With “Inspector Roy” marking his fifth cinematic endeavour, Punja expresses enthusiasm for audiences to witness the culmination of his cinematic journey.

“This is an exciting movie, it’s an adventurer movie if you like adventure movies, being stranded on an island battling to survive on the island, it’s about that.

“It’s about finding yourself, what you’ve been doing, what you shouldn’t be doing, what you’ve missed out on. Come and see the movie and decide for yourselves.”

The Stranded Pearl premier will be screened in Suva, Nakasi, Labasa, Nadi and Lautoka from today.
