IT is compulsory for all Public Service Vehicle (PSV) permit holder to renew their permits at least 28 days prior to its expiry.
LTA CEO NaisaTuinaceva said if any permit application does not meet the requirements as of June 1 this year, it would be strictly considered under the LTA Act and Regulation.
“This means that the authority will refuse all late application for renewal of PSV permits,” Mr Tuinaceva said.
“The Land Transport Public Service Permits Regulation 2000 clearly stipulates that an application to re-issue a permit must be made at least 28 days before the permit expires.
“Many permit holders continue to ignore the advice and they tend to rush to LTA to renew their permit on the day it expires, and they become frustrated when they visit LTA to get their permits.
“Prior to the renewal of a PSV permit, a permit holder is required to meet certain requirements like police clearance and that can take almost three weeks hence the 28 day time frame.”
Mr Tuinaceva said any delay in the renewal also affects the supply in PSV services as once the permit expires, the PSV vehicle cannot be used on the road.
He added the current law (LTA Act and Regulation) was still applicable therefore permit holders must comply with the regulation at all times and submit their application at least 28 days before expiry.
“All permit holders are encouraged to contact the nearest LTA office if they require further clarification,” he said.
