THE Office of the Attorney General needs to be involved in the extradition of the Director of Public Prosecution Christopher Pryde from New Zealand to face corruption-related charges at the Suva Magistrate’s Court.

FICAC Acting Commissioner Lavi Rokoika said they have two options, either to use the Mutual Legal Assistance Act or they don’t.

“We cannot do it without the Office of the Attorney General,” she said.

“There are stakeholders involved from outside of Fiji.

“It is beyond our control when we are dealing with outside counterparts.

“All I can say is that it’s currently filed in court.

“We are hoping to have it dealt with as soon as possible.

“There are two options here.

“It’s either we use the MLA option, Mutual Legal Assistance option, or we don’t, so we serve it ourselves.”

The matter she said remains before the Court and she couldn’t comment any further.
