The 2024 Skipper Cup competition will kick-off on February 24.

Three major provincial teams in Nadi, Naitasiri and Nadroga have confirmed they have collectively agreed with the Fiji Rugby Union on this date.

Following the “talanoa session” in November, the unions were presented with three alternative start dates, one of which was February 23.

FRU operations manager Sale Sorovaki had stated at the time that the 10 participating unions would collectively decide the kick-off date.

Nadi Rugby Union manager Epeli Qoro confirmed his team will host western neighbour and newly promoted Lautoka on Saturday, February 24 at Prince Charles Park.

Nadroga rugby manger Isikeli Basiyalo said Nadroga would be travelling to Labasa where they would meet Macuata in round one of the Skipper Cup at the usual start time of 3pm on February 24.

Naitasiri rugby president Peceli Rinakama, who is yet to find out which team the Highlanders will be facing in round one, also confirmed the date.

Questions sent to FRU competitions manager Tiko Matawalu remained unanswered when this edition went to press last night.
