Players vying for a place in the Fiji Airways Fiji 7s men’s squad for the upcoming Hong Kong sevens tournament will need to prove themselves.
Newly appointed sevens rugby coach Osea Kolinisau said he would monitor their fitness including two-time Olympic gold-medalist Jerry Tuwai.
“Whether they are contracted or not, everybody will be given a fair shot in rugby. I have had a positive chat with Jerry(Tuwai) and I’ve told him to come into camp and we will monitor his fitness,” he said.
“It’ll be good to have Jerry around because he has the knowledge and is a good mentor to the young boys.
“I have allowed the boys to play for their respective clubs in this weekend’s Marist Sevens as I’d like to see their performance.”
Although he acknowledges the challenges sevens rugby has faced, Kolinisau is positive that anything could be achieved with God.
The Hong Kong 7s will be played from April 5-7.
