Aqela Nukunawa, 53, was the proudest mother on Saturday as she came to support her son, Swire Shipping Fijian Drua outside centre Iosefo Masi, play his last home game in the 2024 Super Rugby Pacific competition.

Speaking to The Fiji Times at Churchill Park in Lautoka on Saturday, Nukunawa said family members also travelled from Taveuni, Labasa and Suva, adding she was positive the Drua would qualify for a spot in the top eight.

“We have always been showing our support to Masi during his games in Fiji and overseas,” Nukunawa said.

“And being the final home game for this year, we decided to come out in numbers.

“I was staying with my daughter in Gau, and we would call Masi to check on him and offer him our word of encouragement whenever he gets the opportunity to play for the Fijian Drua overseas.

“We always ask each other for forgiveness and pray that he performs well.”
