BENITO Masilevu’s passion for rugby has taken him a long way, becoming a blessing to his own family in Navakativa Village, Wailevu, Cakaudrove.
The former Vodafone Fiji 7s rep, is playing in France and also a Flying Fijian. His proud dad, Sulio Eremasi, said his son would opt to train than to attend family gathering such as Christmas and New Year celebrations.
“He would take off to training when the lunch has been set up for Christmas and family members would wonder whether he has completely lost it,” Eremasi said.
“Being a father, I knew and understood my son’s passion for rugby and his efforts to try and better his life and our family through rugby.
“I am proud to say that his efforts have not gone to waste and we are benefiting from his sacrifices.”
Eremasi said his son was at their village last week on a break from his French Club helping extend and renovate their home.
Masilevu’s mother, Mariana Vikatoria is proud of her son’s achievements.
Vikatoria said her son was a rugby star from the day he laid his hands on the rugby ball.
“Rugby has taken him around the globe because of his trust in God,” she said.
