THE development of four major lucrative tourism projects under the recently launched Yavu Collective signifies a celebration of a relationship that has grown for about 20 years, says Accor chief operating officer for the Pacific Adrian Williams.

These projects are backed by BSP Life, Fiji Airways, and a global alliance with Accor.

Speaking at the launch ceremony recently at the Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa in Nadi, Mr Williams reflected on the initial stages of Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa in 2005.

“Who would have thought that we would be in such a beautiful resort that Sofitel has grown and evolved to be and congratulations to the then Richmond Group for your vision for continuing to invest in this beautiful Sofitel hotel,” Mr Williams said.

“Since then, this shared vision for world-class hospitality has really been a showcase, a platform for showing the very best of Fiji tourism, and it is a success of that partnership that has been built on trust, built on honesty, shared values and a long-term commitment to Fiji as a global destination.”

Mr Williams said Yavu had an ongoing commitment to quality community and culture.

“Today’s announcement reflects our confidence, and I also think Yavu Collective’s confidence in that shared vision in Fiji’s future.

“These three projects are an exciting expansion of Accor’s presence here in Fiji, adding an extra 370 rooms in total.”

BSP Life managing director Michael Nacola said stakeholders were on the cusp of even more exciting developments.

“What was previously one hotel now becomes four hotels under the Yavo Collective and the best is still yet to come.

Mr Nacola commended those who also played a role in bringing the project to fruition.

“Having capital is great, but it’s worthless without execution and we’re blessed to have such a fantastic team.

“It’s because of you that we’re able to gather here tonight to celebrate a special occasion and to look forward to what tourism has to offer because of all the hard work you’ve put in. Personal sacrifices, giving up holidays, giving up long weekends to work behind the scenes to bring to life this vision of Vatu Talei, Na Tomba, as well as Nuku-loaloa.”
