LOCAL audit firm KPMG Fiji yesterday announced a two-day tech insight program for women that gets underway in Suva tomorrow.

This follows the success of last year’s “IT’s Her Future” program attended by final year university female students, which offered a way to introduce women to careers in technology and encourage their participation in a sector where females are under-represented.

“This year, we are delighted to confirm 15 women will be attending,” KPMG Fiji managing partner Lisa Apted said.

“Last year, we had 13 join us with four having already joined us as graduates in 2025. We’re hopeful that some from this cohort will join us as graduates in 2026.”

As part of the program, participants will also hear from women across the KPMG business about their careers and have an opportunity to work with a mentor, Ms Apted added.

The programme will include sessions on:

• understanding the roles and work done in technology across KPMG

• understanding KPMG’s technology approach

• helping women in technology find their own purpose

• debating the merits of different technologies

• practising interview skills.

“Fiji has many young, tech-savvy women and this talent pool provides an excellent opportunity for businesses like KPMG to tap into a vital part of the skilled workforce,” Ms Apted said.

“Our firm is seeking to support Women in Technology in general and provide job opportunities.

“We believe that helping Fiji’s youth to see themselves in role models performing jobs that spark interest helps create a pipeline of talent for businesses like ours.

“Women make up just one quarter of individuals in technical roles and only 34 percent of all STEM workers are women.

“The purpose of ‘IT’s Her Future’ is to help tackle gender diversity within KPMG, its clients, and communities. Students will have access to the knowledge and experience of a significant group of KPMG technology professionals,” Ms Apted said.

Upon completion of the program, the university student participants will have the opportunity to interview for a spot in local graduate programs – either within the teams of Connected Technology Group or as part of KPMG Suva’s Enterprise Technology teams.
