Commissioner of Police Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho says the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) is investigating claims of an alleged porn ring that includes officers from the ranks of the Fiji Police Force.

This comes after social media posts alleging police officers were part of a Viber group sharing sexually explicit material, of both local and international origin.

Brig-Gen Qiliho said the CID was investigating the claims of police officers sharing pornographic material and investigating those who were allegedly involved, although no confirmation could yet been given as to how many officers were believed to be involved.

Section 377 of the Crimes Act 2009 provides for a minimum penalty of five years imprisonment, a $4000 dollar fine or both for trafficking pornographic material.
