WHILE the Fiji Council of Social Services (FCOSS) supports building new partnerships, it believes that diplomacy must first be delivered for the people.

Responding to the revelation of the 17-member entourage to Israel for the opening of the Fiji Embassy there, FCOSS president Sepesa Rasili has urged the Government to prioritise domestic change management programs that would bring about immediate and tangible improvements for Fijians.

“We need to see progress in service delivery, infrastructural improvements, and community-led resilience,” he said.

“International diplomacy is important, but its value is measured by its impact at home. Fiji’s moral authority on the world stage is rooted in the resilience and innovation of our communities, to truly represent our nation, our diplomatic efforts must include the voices and lived realities of civil society and grassroots leaders.”
