Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says he has met with the President, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, in what he described as a respectful and constructive engagement at State House today.
In a government statement, the Prime Minister said the meeting provided an opportunity to brief the President on key national matters, including the recent High Court decision relating to the former Commissioner of the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC).
The Prime Minister said the discussion focused on constitutional processes and the options available under the law following the court ruling.
According to the statement, President Lalabalavu conveyed his support for the appropriate options available within the constitutional framework.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to respecting the rule of law and constitutional processes as the matter continues to be addressed through the proper legal channels.
