Drasa Avenue School (DAS) in Lautoka has come out on top as the Fiji Mathematics Association National Finals overall champion.
The DAS mathematics team demonstrated dedication, hard work and resilience to secure the title for the primary competition.
Head of School, Sanjeeta Kumar said the fact that the teams from Year 5 to 8 prepared in a short span of time for the South-Western Zonal competition and managed to qualify for the nationals spoke volumes about the team’s commitment to excellence.
“The support provided by the teachers, parents, and the entire school community clearly played a significant role in enabling the students to perform their best,” she said.
“It’s heartening to know that everyone rallied together to support the students’ goal of winning the national title.
“The competition seemed intense, with schools from all around Fiji participating in the competition.
“The results across different year levels indicated a consistent and impressive performance from DAS, with achievements like finishing first in the Year 6 grade and second in the Year 7 grade.”
She said the collective effort from all the levels (years) culminated in the school winning the overall title of National champions – it demonstrated the strength and unity of the team.
“This achievement will undoubtedly serve as an inspiration to future mathematicians and students at the school,” she said.
“Hard work, dedication, and perseverance are truly valuable qualities that have led to this success.”
