IT is that exciting time of the year again as the Fiji Primary Schools Athletics Tuckers Ice-Cream Games to be held next week Thursday and Friday at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
A total of 26 districts and 2388 athletes from across the country will be competing in this year’s competition.
Fiji Primary Schools Athletics Association president Patrick Bower says it’s a huge event for Fiji.
“It covers the Primary schools and it covers them with their athletics skills,” said Bower.
“As we all know base is critical for all the other sports that Fiji is also involved with, later it goes out to rugby, soccer, but athletics is a wonder base.”
He adds the event aims to bring together athletes from all over Fiji to showcase their talent and represent their districts.
“The number of athletes has increased this year, and we also have an outside school that will be participating in the competition as well, Wallis & Futuna, which will be an excited event for everyone.”
Goodman Fielder’s head of marketing, Tim Smith, expressed excitement about supporting the event once again.
He highlighted the company’s commitment to nourishing families and uplifting communities, and how they are proud to be a part of such a great sporting event.
“At Goodman Fielder, we are passionate about nourishing families and uplifting communities, and we are proud to stand behind an event that celebrates the joy of sports,” said Smith.
“We believe in the power of sports to bring people together and inspire greatness, through our much-loved brands like Tuckers, Crest, Twisties.
“We aim to fuel the energy, fun, and determination that these young athletes bring to the field every year.
“Let’s make this year’s Games full of joy, teamwork, and unforgettable memories.”
