THe Fiji FA President’s Five lost to New Zealand 1-5 in its opening OFC Futsal Cup tournament at the Vodafone Arena in Suva yesterday.

The side trailed the Kiwis 1-2 at halftime and could not keep up with the visitors in the second half. The Digicel national futsal side was to play New Caledonia when this edition went to press last night.

Meanwhile, Fiji futsal head coach Jerry Sam says the players are excited to be taking part in the tournament.

“Basically we have two teams and the second team is mainly the development team for the Fiji futsal and I think it’s good to have this bunch of players to be part of the competition because they need exposure and game time as well,” he said.

“For Digicel national futsal team we have a balanced team and we have prepared within the five weeks and I can see the boys have really coped with the tactical aspect of the game.”
