Pratap takes over in Suva

SUVA businessman Ritesh Pratap is the new president of the Suva Football Association.

He was elected by the club members at the 90th Suva FA annual general meeting yesterday.

Pratap, a director of the Smart Efficient Security Services PTE Ltd, has been involved with Suva FA for more than six years.

He was the only nomination for the president’s post.

“Being the president of the Fiji’s largest football district is surely not an easy task. It has been a dream come true for me since I am originally from Ba,” he said.

“It will require a big commitment from me.

“I am grateful to the district officials who had faith in me and voted me for the post. I thank all my executives and we need to work together to take Suva to greater heights. My family had been very supportive especially my wife Veenal Pratap and my two daughters.”

There were also three new vice-presidents who were voted in and they are Shalendra Narayan, Ravnil Narayan and Vinay Anand Singh.

The 39-year-old is originally from Raviravi in Ba and he took over from former president Mahend Prasad who announced he would not seek re-election this year.

“Fiji Football Association vice-president Jainendra Sukhu was present at the meeting and he told the previous president (Mahend Prasad) to have the audited report done and have it present in the special annual general meeting,” he said.

“There were also questions raised on who would be responsible for the report so Sukhu had made it clear Prasad will answerable.”

Meanwhile, Paradise Beverages has also come on board as the sponsor for Suva and they will be known as the Fiji Gold Suva this year.
