Fiji Airports has unveiled potential new developments at the Nadi and Nausori international airports through tender documents released recently.

The company is seeking expressions of interests from consultants to prepare a landside master plan and business case for both the airports.

Fiji Airports has identified potential development sites in Nadi as:

 terminal infill development at the Nadi Terminal Carpark (incorporating transit hotel and retail mixed use opportunities)

 commercial and mixed use precinct development within the AFL compound

 Aviation Training and Development Precinct associated with the Fiji Airways Aviation Academy and the Fiji Airports Aviation Academy

 Newtown and Wailoaloa Resort and Hospitality precinct  Balance land areas within the North West Support Services Precinct.

In Nausori, future development listed by Fiji Airports are:

 retail and commercial development between the current terminal and the road, and

 cross runway development at Nadi and Nausori international airports “Fiji Airports owns and manages Nadi International Airport, Fiji’s Gateway to the World.

It also manages, on behalf of Government, the Nausori International Airport in Suva and 13 outer-island airports,” states the tender document.

“Nadi International Airport welcomes more than 2.1 million international passengers and close to 300,000 domestic passengers annually.

“It also handles over 1.3 million tonnes of freight, services 20 airlines, and connects Fiji to 15 cities internationally.

“Fiji Airports has several land development opportunities in direct proximity to Nadi Airport both within the terminal precinct and associated with its other land holdings around the airport.

“This opportunity is to progress a development masterplan associated with these landside development sites to progress development in an integrated manner over the next 10-20 years.”
