THE HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series champions will be the chief guests at the opening of the first Fijian pop up bar in Sydney to be known as the “The Flying Fijian”.

The event, organised by one of the team sponsors Fiji Airways will also include Vodafone Fiji 7s coach Ben Ryan, who is the new Fiji Airways ambassador

The event will also give Fiji sevens fans an opportunity to meet with the world series champions.

Ryan said they had a huge fan base in Sydney and they wanted them to support the team while they’re there.

“We are the current sevens world champions and we’re coming to Sydney for the first time,” Ryan said in a statement.

“We know we have a huge fan base in the city and we’d love for them to support us when we’re here,” Ryan said.

The statement said the event is a must-visit pop up for any rugby fan will be held at The Olympic Hotel in Paddington which was directly across the road from the Moore Park stadium.

“The Fijian pop up bar will prove an ideal location for fans to kick back and support the Fiji 7s world champions or the Aussies and as supporters enjoy rugby on the big screen at the bar, they can also indulge in traditional Fijian culture over the weekend.

“Guests will be able to buy Fiji Bitter over the bar, choose lunch or dinner from a Fijian-inspired menu that has been designed in collaboration with celebrity Fijian chef and Fiji Airways’ culinary ambassador, Lance Seeto, try a tropical cocktail, and also try some kava over the weekend.

“On the Saturday and Sunday afternoon, there will also be Fiji Airways cabin crew on hand to ensure everyone’s time at the bar is smooth and enjoyable, plus at 3.50pm (the time it takes to fly from Sydney to Nadi) they’ll be giving away prizes to those who turn up in the best Fiji-inspired fancy dress,” the statement said.
