There is an urgent need to improve infrastructure across the North, says Infrastructure Minister Ro Filipe Tuisawau.
“From my visits, I can say there have been some improvements, but the needs in the Northern Division are much greater,” he said.
Ro Filipe said the poor infrastructure in the division was because of limited access to key support facilities.
“This includes companies that handle roads, water infrastructure, electricity supply, and telecommunications.”
After conducting his assessments around key projects in the North, he said, new road constructions were needed, but more needed to be done.
“There is still a greater need to improve access to infrastructure across the region. We must work hard to ensure people have better roads and facilities in these provinces.”
He said planning and budgeting for continuous improvements in basic infrastructure must continue.
“I have emphasised to ministry staff with representatives from the Fiji Roads Authority, and the Water Authority of Fiji, that things cannot stand still.
“We must see significant improvements after every financial year.”
He said during their tenure in government, they wanted to ensure each parts of Fiji experienced real and tangible development.
