Government policies and regulations need to be geared towards enhancing and supporting businesses already on the path of sustainable business practice.

Star Printery director Sandeep Chauhan told the National Climate Action Dialogue panel discussion at USP in Suva this week the private sector brought agility, innovation and capital into Fiji.

“We are ready and willing to be a full partner, but we cannot do it alone,” Mr Chauhan said.

“We need a system that is practical, accessible, and provides clear incentives.”

He said this would require moving beyond high-level policy to targeted, enforceable regulations and a financial system that works for every business, not just the few large ones.

“Let’s use this dialogue to bridge the gap between our bold policies and the daily reality of our businesses. The resilience of Fiji depends on it.”
