THE police have been in contact with the relatives of 21-year-old Komal Kumar, who lost her life after falling off a ferris wheel at the Fiji Showcase nearly two years ago, providing updates on the progress of the investigation.
Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Crime Loraini Seru made the comment in response to queries from this newspaper.
As of April this year, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) confirmed receiving the file concerning the incident in September last year.
The ODPP told The Fiji Times it had completed its analysis and that the file was returned to the Director CID with recommendations.
AACP Seru confirmed this yesterday.
“The file was returned with recommendations for possible charges; however, there were additional taskings also recommended to be completed before pursuing the formal laying of charges, which the investigating team is working on,” AACP Seru said.
“We have been communicating the progress of the investigation with the victim’s family.”
