DEFENDING Sukuna Bowl champion, Fiji Police Force is adamant for the upcoming Ratu Sukuna Bowl clash against the Republic of the Fiji Military Forces(RFMF) in Labasa on November 21.

Team Manager and Director Operations SSP Wate Vocevoce said preparations have been progressing well despite a few challenges with injuries.

“Police preparation has been going on well some challenges we have encountered during our preparations such as injuries but they are recovering well, i know they will be 100 percent fit and injury free come November 21.

“They are minor injuries, some of the players were participating in Skipper Cup but they are recovering well,” Vocevoce said.

The team plans to leave for Labasa on Sunday to allow players to acclimatise for the Northern weather conditions before the big match.

SSP Vocevoce added that although four senior players are currently serving on tour duty in the Middle East, there are capable players in the squad ready to step up and fill the gap.

“We have four senior players that are currently in the middle Esat but we have sufficient players in the group that have been playing in top competitions that can fill in the gap of those senior players,” he added.

The Fiji Police Force theme for the tournament this year is ‘ United For Victory, Stronger Together Against Drugs and HIV’.

“It’s not only Sukuna bowl, but this is also the opportunity to extend this competition to a community who hardly see Sukuna bowl in past years.

” This not only competitions involving the two security forces but its also the opportunity to engage the communities to come together and engage in the war against drugs and increase in HIV. The opportunity for community to also assist the Police in terms of taking ownership in the community.”
