Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu has confirmed that investigators submitted the file on the Richard Mock case to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in May this year.
His comments come amid growing criticism of the police force, with some alleging a lack of action against those implicated.
Mr Mock was alleged to have died in police custody in February this year and a group of officers at Namaka Police station are also alleged to have dumped his body in Nasau, Nadi after realising he was dead.
“I wish to also provide another update on the matter concerning Mr. Richard Block, as allegations have been made against police for not taking action against those involved,” said Tudravu.
“I would like to clarify, we have submitted the investigation file to the DPP office in May this year, and we await the independent legal advice on this case,” he stated.
Tudravu reaffirmed the force’s stance on accountability.
“I say once again, we are committed to being transparent, ensuring officers are held accountable for their actions,” he said.
