THE Police Sharks team was awarded the 2025 best team of the year at the Fiji National Rugby League Women’s Awards.
The team had an impressive run this season, in the East State division, they finished at the top of the table with two wins from two matches early in the season.
They proceeded to the FNRLW Grand Final beating the USP Raiders 20-18 to win the title for second year in a row.
Head coach Sale Tubuna dedicated the award to all the clubs’ supporters, who have been instrumental in their 2025 campaign.
“On behalf of our team we would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone, without everybody’s effort and support every week, week-in-week-out,” he said
“We wouldn’t be where we are at the moment.” He added the strength of our national team highlights the progress of our domestic competition.
“The stronger our competition (FNRWL competition) the stronger our national team,” said Tubuna.
Tubuna acknowledged that player commitments is a problem that all teams in the competition faced, including the Police team.
He concluded his speech calling on all clubs to bring a bigger season next year, paving the way for more of our local girls to debut in the 2026 Rugby League World Cup in Australia.
