THE Police Sharks will look to continue their winning streak in the Vodafone Cup after defeating City Storms 18-8 in round 6 of the competition at the Buckhurst Park last Saturday.
The Sharks combined solid defence with clinical finish to keep City Storms at bay throughout the contest and claim valuable points in the competition. Vice-captain of the side Arthur Nawaqanigauna said the victory reflected the hard work the team had put in despite the demands of serving as police officers.
“Apart from our work as police officers, we make time to train and prepare for our games. It hasn’t been easy, but the boys have shown great commitment.”
He said discipline and teamwork had been key to the side’s success, both on and off the field.
“Our work requires discipline every day, and we bring that same attitude onto the rugby field. Everyone plays for each other, and that’s what helped us get the win.”
The vice-captain praised City Storms for providing a tough contest and said the Sharks would continue working on areas that needed improvement as the competition progresses.
He also thanked the team’s supporters and fellow police officers for their encouragement, saying the side would remain focused on maintaining its momentum in the Vodafone Cup.
