THE Fiji Police Force has begun work on its Five-Year Strategic Plan 2025–2029, with a strong focus on officer training, modern policing methods, and rebuilding public trust.

Officer in charge for planning, Assistant Superintendent of Police George Lagi said the plan was a roadmap for how the force would respond to changing demands and expectations in the next five years.

“We have to uplift our capabilities, invest more in training, and equip our officers with the right skills and knowledge,” ASP Lagi said.

The plan, he said, would be built on four pillars — strategic planning and human resources, leadership, integrity and ethics, and operational capability.

“We will explore innovative approaches, leverage technology, and foster a culture of continuous learning.”

He said, strengthening trust and partnerships with communities was vital.

“We must build a police force that is respected and trusted, one that wins the confidence of the people and serves them with integrity and excellence.” He said the workshop was to hear directly from communities on what they want the future of policing to look like.
