THE Police Blues have claimed the prestigious Vodafone Ratu Sukuna Bowl cricket tournament title after a commanding seven-wicket victory over the Army team, successfully chasing down a target of 117 runs at Albert Park in Suva yesterday.

Under the brilliant sun, Police won the toss and made the strategic decision to bowl first, allowing Army to take the crease.

The Army batsmen fought valiantly, managing to post a total of 116 runs by the conclusion of their first innings.

Some impressive shots from the Army lineup, missed opportunities limited their potential score and left them short of a more formidable total.

The Police bowlers demonstrated exceptional skill and discipline throughout the innings, consistently applying pressure on the Army batsmen.

Fielding efforts were equally commendable, with key catches and tight field placements contributing to their successful bowling display.

In response, the Police Blues approached their chase with confidence. They steadily dismantled the Army bowling attack, surpassing the target with relative ease.

The victory, achieved with seven wickets in hand, underscores Police’s dominance in this year’s tournament.

Reflecting on their victory, Metuisela Beitaki, the Vice Captain of the police cricket team expressed gratitude in an interview, attributing their success to divine guidance.

“Our win is all thanks to God and we give it back to him,” he said.

This triumph not only secures the Ratu Sukuna title for Police but also highlights the team’s resilience and teamwork throughout the competition.

With their strong performance yesterday, they have set a high standard for future tournaments.
