The Fiji Police Force has clarified that a police search carried out at a residence in Samabula involved the home of a Member of Parliament and was part of an ongoing investigation—not a drug operation as speculated online.
In a statement, police said a team conducted the search on Thursday night at the MP’s residence to locate a document relevant to the investigation.
Police confirmed that a suspect, who is related to a family member at the residence, had earlier been arrested in Wainadoi and was present during the search.
“The search for a document at the residence was a process of investigation, and no drugs were found as speculated,” police said.
The Fiji Police Force added that investigations are continuing and urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information.
