Police carry out major drug raids across Fiji

Police have confirmed multiple joint raids were carried out across the Central, Southern, and Western Divisions last night.

It is understood a well known hotel in Suva and several houses in Suva were raided.

The Fiji Times sources confirm several AsianĀ  nationals were arrested alongside locals.

Police said they seizured illicit substances believed to be methamphetamine.

The operations were conducted by the Serious Organised Crime and Intelligence Department (SOCID), in collaboration with the Fiji Detector Dog Unit (FDDU), Police Mobile Force, and the Fiji Immigration Department.

In addition to the suspected drugs, large sums of both foreign and local currencies were confiscated during the raids.

“Several individuals are currently in custody as investigations continue,” police said, adding that further information will be released in due course.
