Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka will reassign Minister for Justice Siromi Turaga following “calls” for his removal.
In an interview yesterday, Mr Rabuka said he would look into the matter.
Asked whether Mr Turaga would be reassigned to another ministry, Mr Rabuka said: “Yes.”
Mr Turaga has been recently criticised by the public for two cases, the first being that of Fiji Corrections Service Commissioner Dr Jalesi Nakarawa whom he sent on leave earlier this week.
This was challenged by Dr Nakarawa who said the minister does not have the authority to send a Constitutional Office holder on leave pending investigation.
The cries from the public on social media soared after revelation that more than $88,000 was used by the Tribunal to investigate the case of reinstated DPP, Christopher Pryde.
With this revelation, social media has been flooded with calls to remove Mr Turaga particularly after Mr Pryde was found “not guilty” of “misbehaviour”.
