Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka visited the headquarters of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) in New Delhi.
He was welcomed by UIDAI Chief Executive Officer Bhuvnesh Kumar and senior officials from the Indian Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
During the visit, Mr Rabuka was briefed on India’s pioneering digital identity system, the Aadhaar card, which forms the foundation of the country’s digital public infrastructure.
He was also introduced to other platforms like DigiLocker, which are revolutionising service delivery and inclusive digital governance in India.
Deputy Director General of UIDAI, Vivek Chandra Verma, and NeGD President and CEO, Nand Kumaram, gave detailed presentations outlining the design, implementation, and impact of Aadhaar and DigiLocker.
They emphasised how these tools have empowered citizens and driven large-scale digital transformation.
The Fijian delegation witnessed a live demonstration of the Aadhaar enrolment process, gaining first-hand insights into its operational ease, scalability, efficiency, and robust security features.
