Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka used his New Year’s address to highlight what he says are key achievements of the People’s Alliance government since taking office — subtly weaving party manifesto commitments into a national message focused on unity, reform and accountability.

Mr Rabuka reminded Fijians that the government was elected “on a promise of integrity, inclusion and reform,” saying progress is being delivered across several priority areas.

He said the administration had worked to restore public confidence in democratic institutions by strengthening governance and accountability.

“Giving you freedom, ensuring your voice matters and your government listens — that is at the heart of the democracy we uphold,” the Prime Minister said.

Education, health and service delivery were also listed among areas the government claims to have improved.

Mr Rabuka said reforms had supported students and teachers, while efforts were underway to expand healthcare access and improve frontline services.

He also pointed to targeted support measures for workers, farmers and small businesses, saying these interventions were designed to help families cope with ongoing economic pressures.

On the international front, the Prime Minister said Fiji had re-engaged “with credibility and respect” on the regional and global stage, strengthening diplomatic relationships and rebuilding trust with development partners.

“These achievements reflect our belief that leadership is not about slogans, but about service — and about keeping faith with the people who placed their trust in us,” Mr Rabuka said.

The Prime Minister urged Fijians to look ahead with confidence while committing to reforms and responsible governance.
