Fiji Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has been conferred the Grand Companion of the Order of Logohu by Papua New Guinea Governor-General Sir Bob Dadae during a ceremony at the State House yesterday.
According to a Fiji Government statement, the prestigious national honour recognises Mr Rabuka’s distinguished service in strengthening bilateral relations between Fiji and Papua New Guinea, as well as his leadership in advancing regional cooperation among Pacific nations.
In accepting the award, Mr Rabuka thanked the Government and people of Papua New Guinea, particularly Prime Minister James Marape, for the recognition and hospitality extended to the Fiji delegation.
“This honour is not mine alone, but one shared with the chiefs and the people of Fiji and all those who continue to work towards a stronger and more united Pacific family,” Mr Rabuka said.
He said the award reflected the enduring friendship, shared Melanesian heritage and longstanding partnership between the two countries.
Mr Rabuka also reaffirmed Fiji’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Papua New Guinea and other Pacific Island nations on regional priorities including ocean governance, climate resilience, security, trade and sustainable development.
The Order of Logohu is among Papua New Guinea’s highest national honours and is awarded to individuals who have rendered distinguished service to the nation and the wider Pacific region.
