Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has moved to allay growing public concerns about the possible re-emergence of iTaukei ethno-nationalism, assuring all communities that their rights and interests remain secure under his government.

Speaking at the opening of the G S Raj Supermarket in Rakiraki yesterday, Mr Rabuka urged Fijians to stay united as the country enters the festive season, calling for joy, cooperation and goodwill across all ethnic groups.

Responding directly to recent discussions and commentary around ethnic tensions, the Prime Minister rejected claims of rising nationalism.

“You do not have anything to worry about as long as we are in control,” he said.

“The fruits of cooperation are right before our eyes, and this can be replicated across all provinces.”

Mr Rabuka encouraged Fijians to uphold the spirit of Christmas — unity, loyalty and joy — and to continue nurturing harmony within their communities.
