THE Shree Sanatan Dharm Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji’s strong commitment to justice, equality, national unity and respect for the rights of all Fijian people was highlighted by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, while opening the organisations 57th convention at Cuvu College in Nadroga yesterday.
While delivering his opening address, the Prime Minister said Hindu values of honesty, love and peace had been passed down through generations and provided tens of thousands of citizens an important moral compass.
“I want every Fijian to know the wonderful story of the Sanatan Sabha — the largest Indo-Fijian religious organisation in Fiji — and the immense contribution its members have made to our nation over the years,” said Mr Bainimarama.
“The Sanatan Sabha is dedicated to the service of our nation and the prosperity and progress of every Fijian and I especially want to thank the organisation.”
Mr Bainimarama also paid tribute towards the contribution of the organisation towards the education sector in Fiji.
“I want to especially single out the contribution you have made to education in Fiji and your total commitment to my Government’s goal of making us a knowledge-based society.
“You have almost 120 institutions of learning in Fiji in which our children are not only being imparted with knowledge but the high moral values of the Sanatan Sabha.”
In response, Sabha national president Sarju Prasad hailed the work of the Bainimarama government, saying he spoke on behalf of all their members in saying that the Government had their full support.
The 57th Sanatan Dharm Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji convention culminates on Sunday.
