DING Jin Real Estate Development Pte Ltd, owner of the newly opened Nausori Plaza in Nausori town, will expand its presence in Fiji after the success of its two projects: the Nausori Plaza and the Wyndham Garden Hotel in Wailoaloa in Nadi.

This was revealed by Nausori Plaza managing director Shen Gong Ling at the official opening of the Nausori Plaza during the Chinese New Year celebrations in Nausori last Saturday.

“In terms of the investment made into this plaza, I have spent up to $45 million in the success of this Nausori Plaza and the Wyndham Garden Hotel in Wailoaloa, Nadi,” Mr Shen said.

“And in just one year I noticed the rapid growth of the investment. So, yes, I am planning to continue my investment in Fiji in the tourism and commercial sector.”

In an interview with this newspaper, Mr Shen said the Plaza’s soft opening four months ago had been a success.

“Four months ago, we started our operation but that for us was a testing phase because there were already businesses lining up and we wanted them to kick start their operation as soon as possible so we got that done,” he said.

“However, we didn’t have the timing to officially launch the Nausori Plaza until last week during the Chinese New Year celebrations.

“We figured that it was an opportune time to officially open the Plaza, and we are grateful for the public for their support towards the official opening.

Nausori Plaza was officially opened by Minister of Finance Prof Biman Prasad last Saturday.

Mr Shen said since its unofficial opening four months ago, the Plaza has generated around 400 jobs including tenants and 55 of those staff were Nausori residents.

“The amount that the plaza is generating annually is benefiting the community, like employment and since we just started, we also have expenses of our own to stay in operation. What I can confirm is that we do have a social responsibility to the community, and we do reflect that through donations we give to the community. An example would be Dilkusha home.

“We are planning that once we are stable enough, we will continue to hold public events to give back to the Nausori people as well as to Nausori Village.”

Mr Shen acknowledged the local community of Nausori for contributing to the success of the Plaza and hopes for more collaboration in the future.

“We are grateful for the Nausori community who believed in our Plaza and over time, tenant applications started pouring in, including companies like Tappoo, Jacks of Fiji, DMC, O’Ben Fiji, etc.

“This has boosted the reputation of this prestige plaza bringing in attention from the public who now come in everyday either to use the service or just pass by admiring the view of this Nausori Plaza.

“I am very happy and grateful towards the community. I have noticed that Fijians are very warm welcoming and have welcomed us into their community and into their town to do business, especially the fact that they are open to development which can be seen through things like investment and construction,” Mr Shen said.
