New Zealand-based Kishan Sami and Etonia Delai are eyeing a return to Fiji for the 2021 football season.

The duo based in Manukau are among several overseas-based players who have applied for their International Transfer Certificates (ITC) to feature for the local district teams.

Sami who has earned 13 national caps moved to New Zealand in 2019 with Delai.

The Fiji Football Association 2021 season transfer opened on January 1 and will close this Sunday.

As of January 27, the Fiji FA has received a total of 58 applications for district transfers however only four have been approved.

The approved transfers are of Jone Naraba (Nasinu to Labasa), Marlon Tahioa (Nasinu to Labasa), Pita Kuila ( T/Naitasiri to Navua) and Jaison Deepak Chand (Bua to Nadi).

Fiji FA chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf said they hoped to finalise all the player transfer applications by next Friday.

Yusuf said once an application was received they had a seven-day objection period.

“As per the rules if there are no valid reasons for the districts to withhold players, then Fiji FA will invoke the relevant clauses and release them,” he said.

“Everything will work according to the transfer registration policy.

“We have also received several ITC applications with players from overseas wishing to join the districts here. Kishan who joined Manukau United FC in New Zealand is eyeing a return and wants to join Rewa.

“Etonia who is also with the same club has also applied for his ITC to rejoin Ba.”

Yusuf said the final local transfer list for districts, clubs, futsal and women would be tabled next Monday.

“For all the player disputes, the Fiji FA player status committee will meet by Wednesday to resolve the issues and by Friday all the applications should be processed.”
