ALL is well as five Fijian players in Italy are taking things one day at a time trying to survive as they are in lockdown because of the rising number of deaths affected by COVID 19.

Samuela Vunisa, Paula Balekana, Apisai Tauyavuca, Iliesa Ratuva and Henry Seniloli are missing their families back home and have been updating them on their current situation.

Vunisa, who hails from Vunitogoloa Rakiraki in Ra, is married with one son and says he misses his family every single day.

“Yes I have been in touch every day with my family.

Obviously it is tough to be apart at this time. Well they are all worried about me,” he said. “Well there are about five Fijian boys playing here in Italy.

“Iliesa Ratuva (Treviso Rugby) Apisai Tauyavuca, Paula Balekana (Zebre Rugby) Henry Seniloli ( Colorno Rugby) and me (Samuela Vunisa- Calvisano Rugby ).

“We all have been badly affected during this time. “I am based in Lombardia Province which is the most affected area in the whole of Italy. More than 60 per cent are from here.

“Training has stopped since February 15th and it’s been total lockdown. The only time you can go out is to the pharmacy or shopping for food.

“Yes I’m lucky to live in a small town so I got everything I need.” When asked if he keeps tab on the other Fijian players he said they always get updated on their social media.

“Yes we got a group chat and most days we check up on each other. They are all doing fine and healthy just missing home especially families.” Vunisa added that this is a whole new experience for him being lockdown for the past weeks. “Well it’s new for me personally because I haven’t been in this type of situation.

“Mentally it is tough because you normally at training most days or being outside of the house and come weekends you got a game to play. “But now it’s been more than four weeks lockdown and it’s affecting me with my normal routine.”

He said COVID 19 has really affected them financially, socially and mentally challenging being indoors 24/7.

“It has claimed thousands of lives here in Italy alone and it is heartbreaking that many can’t give a proper burial for loved ones.

“So follow and adhere to the rules that have been given by the authorities. Most importantly, lets stand united and keep praying for our beloved nation.”
