Villagers of Vativa in Cakaudrove have not lost any hopes knowing that they would soon reunite with their rugby Fijiana heroes, Ana Maria Roqica and Captain Rusila Nagasau
Changes made to the travel schedule prevented them from visiting home to meet up with families.
The two players are first cousins as their fathers who hail from Vativa are brothers.
In an interview with Nagasau’s mum, Viniasi Adibilisoi who hails from Tavualevu Village in Tavua, her daughter had to cancel her trip.
“We were a bit sad but we thank God that she has achieved her dreams and although she couldn’t travel to Vativa to be with us for a few weeks, she knows we are always there with her in spirit,” she said.
“It is our prayers and trust in God that has seen her go far in her rugby career. “We will remain positive and believe that God will appoint a perfect time for us to meet our daughter and niece.” Adibilisoi said the two have upcoming rugby commitments towards the end of this year.
“This is why they cancelled their trip to the village because if they do travel to Savusavu, it will be difficult for them to travel back to Viti Levu due to flight issues.”
Another player Viniana Riwai arrived in Labasa on Tuesday but was whisked away by health officials to a quarantine facility.
Her dad Maika Riwai said they were happy to have their daughter back in her home town.
