The Fiji Water Flying Fijians have kicked off their final preparations for this weekend’s blockbuster Test match against the Wallabies, with several Europe-based stars now in camp in Australia.

Jiuta Wainiqolo, Josua Tuisova, Sam Matavesi, and Vilimoni Botitu were among the early arrivals and joined the team for a special church service yesterday, setting the tone for the week ahead.

The spiritual gathering, an important part of Fijian rugby culture, was led with reverence and unity as the team braces for a high-intensity clash in Newcastle, Australia on Sunday.

Towering lock Temo Mayanavanua, also expected to feature this weekend, spoke about the significance of spiritual guidance in the Flying Fijians’ preparation.

More players from Europe are expected to join camp in the coming days, bolstering a squad that’s aiming to make history.

With Fiji now officially recognised as a Tier One nation, Sunday’s encounter marks a new era for the side under head coach Mick Byrne.

The two nations will also compete for the newly-introduced Vuvale Bowl, a symbol of friendship and fierce rivalry, to be presented by the Prime Ministers of Fiji and Australia.
