Planet 21 initiative prompts hospital clean-up

ABOUT 90 staff members from three Accor hotels spent yesterday at the Nadi Hospital cleaning up and painting the outpatients department, landscaping and planting trees as part of an initiative called Planet 21.

The enthusiastic clean-up crew were from the Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa, Novotel Nadi and the Mercure Nadi.

Susan Waqanivere, the director Human Resources at Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa, said Planet 21 was a global initiative by Accor Hotels designed to mobilise staff to take care of natural resources, the environment and doing community work.

“Previously, staff from the three properties would do activities in three different locations,” she said.

“But this year, we decided to come together as one team and clean up the Nadi Hospital because we noticed that it is a bit dusty and in need of a fresh coat of paint.”
