Plan to fight TB

A NEW strategy to battle tuberculosis endorsed by the World Health Assembly in May this year could be tweaked for implementation in Fiji and the Pacific.

According to World Health Organization’s Western Pacific regional office team leader Dr Nishikiori Nobu, the seventh TB Control Meeting of Pacific Islands organised by WHO and Secretariat of the Pacific Community in Nadi would identify ways in which this strategy could be adopted in the region.

“This is a key meeting for TB controllers from all across the Pacific as this is a chance for all countries to discuss TB control and to share new information such as strategic guidelines on the management of TB,” he said.
