The Fiji Sugar Corporation Ltd (FSC) has reminded potential candidates that applications for the 2025 FSC Apprentice Program will open this month.

The FSC Apprentice Program is designed to equip young individuals with the skills necessary for successful careers in engineering and technical fields.

The trainees are coordinated and supported by FSC. A product of the program is Siobahn Bogidrau, an electrical fitter apprentice at the FSC Mill in Lautoka.

“I believe if you set your goals, work hard, and stay focused, you can achieve anything you set your mind to,” Ms Bogidrau said in a statement from the FSC.

She said her interest begun during a career class at Natabua High School.

Inspired and encouraged by the possibilities in the field, she joined the FSC Apprentice Program this year where she gained experience and training crucial for her development.

The program is designed to equip apprentices with skills necessary in engineering careers for technical fields, providing multifaceted approach that enhances technical proficiency and collaboration among apprentices.

“FSC has provided me with on-the-job training and technical skills, making me feel confident in my work every day,” she said.

“I’ve never felt limited as a woman in this field, the corporation treats all of us equally, and constantly encouraged me to keep learning and improving.”

Looking ahead, Ms Bogidrau is eager to continue her journey at FSC and further her studies in engineering.

“The skills I’m learning now are just the beginning.”
