THE daughter of Defence Minister Pio Tikoduadua is showing signs of recovery after undergoing three operations on Tuesday.
She remains admitted at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital in Suva after being struck by a vehicle attempting to flee a police checkpoint.
Mr Tikoduadua confirmed that while her condition had improved, she was still in a critical phase and under close medical supervision following the surgeries.
“She is showing positive signs of recovery, not quite out of the woods yet,” Mr Tikoduadua said.
“But she’s in the hands of very professional doctors and nurses, a team of medical professionals. And they have my family’s full trust.”
Meanwhile, Mr Tikoduadua addressed concerns about the “leaking of information” relating to police and military operations, which could potentially compromise planned drug raids. While he said no formal reports had been made, he acknowledged being informed of such claims.
“Professional institutions always take security measures to make sure they cover all ends.”
Mr Tikoduadua indicated that the leaks could just be little bits of information floating around “here and there” and not the whole operation being exposed.
“But then there is a process within the military and the police to deal with it. And of course, that’s a process, and it takes its course.”
Questions have been sent to the police on these issues and a response is expected.
