Hundreds of Fijians turned up at the Rarotonga airport at midnight yesterday to welcome Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka to the Cook Islands.

He arrived on a special Fiji Airways flight for the 52nd Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting (PIFLM52) and was received by Cook Islands Deputy Prime Minister, Robert Tapaitau.

His engagements at the forum meetings starts this morning with the Pacific Sub-Regional Meeting of the Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG).

Mr Rabuka will be the lone head of government at this MSG meeting as the Prime Ministers of other MSG countries from Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu have opted not attend the Forum and have sent other Ministers.

Later today Mr Rabuka will attend the Smaller Island States (SIS) Leaders Meeting and the PIFLM52 official opening ceremony at the National Auditorium in  Avarua.
