There is a shortage of the Pfizer vaccine due to its “limited stock per supply”, says Ministry of Health’s permanent secretary Dr James Fong.

Responding to concerns from parents who could not get their children immunised after vaccination venues ran short of it, Dr Fong said they expected to get more stocks of the Pfizer vaccine early to mid-January next year.

“Yes, we have a shortage of the Pfizer vaccine,” he said.

“We are getting a limited stock per supply so now we wait for the next supply. The cold chain requirements for the Pfizer vaccine are difficult and given this hot humid weather, we are likely to get more stocks in early to mid-January next year.”
