FIJI footballer, Peter Charles Ravai scored his first professional goal for Gulf United in dramatic fashion, netting a 94th-minute winner to secure a 2-1 victory over Al Ethihad.
The match which took place on Sunday, saw Ravai’s stunning last-minute strike seal the win for his team, securing a crucial three points.
The goal was a momentous achievement for the young forward, marking a significant milestone in his professional football journey.
Ravai’s path to this career-defining moment began after representing Fiji in the under-20 World Cup, where he caught the attention of Chris Cahill, brother of Australian football legend Tim Cahill.
His potential was recognised and soon, overseas clubs expressed interest.
Gulf United in the UAE offered him a trial, which Peter successfully passed, leading to his contract with the club.
This victory and his first professional goal hold deep significance for Peter, who has worked tirelessly to reach this level.
“I was over the moon, because I knew that all my hard work and sacrifice that me and my family have done over the years are starting to pay off,” he said, speaking to this newspaper after the match.
The 21-year-old will be returning to Fiji next month to represent the Fiji Bula Boys, another major step in his burgeoning career.
