People First has been officially registered as Fiji’s newest political party after its application was approved by the Registrar of Political Parties.
Registrar Ana Mataiciwa confirmed that the party’s application, which was submitted on November 20, 2025, had met the requirements set out under the law.
Ms Mataiciwa said four objections were lodged against the application during the public objection period.
The objections related to the use of the party name, the party symbol, and provisions contained in the party’s constitution.
“After due assessment, all four objections were dismissed,” Ms Mataiciwa said.
She added that while the objections were rejected, the objectors are not without recourse.
Under the law, they have 14 days from the date of the decision to lodge an appeal with the Electoral Commission if they wish to challenge the outcome.
The registration of People First brings the total number of registered political parties in Fiji to eight, all of which are now recognised by the Fijian Elections Office (FEO).
The People First party has been formed by members of the now de-registered Fiji First.
