THE Fiji Pearls are intensifying their preparations for the PacificAus Sports Netball series, which will be held in Brisbane from February 17-22.

As part of their buildup, the team is training with the men’s national netball team, who won the Men’s Netball Nations cup last year.

Interim coach Jioweli Vakamoce noted that the sessions have been invaluable, allowing the Pearls to test themselves against top-tier opposition and identify key areas for improvement.

“The tough competition we faced with the men’s team is something we will be expecting when we head to Australia,” Vakamoce said.

“This is game time to prepare ourselves, and this is exactly the kind of contest, test and game we will expect when we play in the PacificAus Sports series.”

Vakamoce emphasised that playing against such a skilled and physically demanding team has provided the Pearls with a realistic measure of the challenges they will face at the international level.

These high-intensity sessions have sharpened the players’ skills, improved their on-court communication and boosted their readiness for the competition.
