The New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) has continued its support of aspiring student designers in the Pacific with its its continued partnership with Wearing Fiji marking the third consecutive year of shared commitment towards nurturing creativity and talent in the fashion industry.
MFAT has generously sponsored three exceptional student designers, namely Heather Vakaosooso, Aisea Solomone, and Ledua Daurewa, who showcased their remarkable designs at the Wearing Fiji 2023 show.
The significant highlight of the event was the crowning of Heather Vakaosooso as the winner of the 2023 show, a testament to her exceptional talent and dedication to the craft.
In a demonstration of unwavering support for emerging talent, MFAT has provided a unique opportunity for all three student designers to embark on a transformative one-week attachment in New Zealand.
This immersive experience will include working closely with the renowned international designer, Karen Walker, providing them with invaluable insights and hands-on experience in the global fashion industry.
This collaboration exemplifies the commitment of both Wearing Fiji and MFAT to elevate Pacific fashion onto the international stage and provide promising designers with opportunities for growth and exposure.
